With nearly ten years of experience working with nonfiction writing in its various forms, Rachel's editorial mantra centers on clarity, concision, and consistency.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Rachel F. Van Hart studied journalism and mass communication with a concentration in visual communications. She honed her editorial skills on the copy desks of several newspapers in coastal South Carolina and Georgia.

She completed a master's degree in writing and rhetoric research at Virginia Commonwealth University while working as an administrator and accreditation specialist for several fellowship programs affiliated with VCU's medical school. During that time she helped co-found the Medical Literary Messenger, a literary journal focused on the humanities in healthcare, which she still designs and copyedits.

She holds a copyediting certificate—the only industry-recognized credential for the discipline—from the University of San Diego Extension.
